How kitchens are bringing a more human approach to contemporary spaces
This May, Emobok took part in in|Workspace Spain by FAMO, one of Spain’s leading events for workplace design. It provided the perfect setting to showcase our vision and demonstrate that spaces for connection deserve thoughtful design too. Kitchens took centre stage.
How did we evolve from traditional kitchens to contract kitchens and modern break rooms? Join us on this tasting journey through the evolution of the social space.

01. Slow-cooked starter
The origins of the Break Room
Have you ever noticed? We always end up gathering around the places where things are “cooking”.
Thousands of years ago, the kitchen was not a designed room: it was the fire itself. A place that provided warmth, protection, and where the first shared stories were born. And although everything has changed, the need to gather around a common space remains unchanged.
Over time, that “fireplace” moved beyond the home and into the workplace. During the Industrial Revolution, many companies began creating spaces for eating and resting, aiming to improve wellbeing and productivity. Without realising it, they were laying the foundations for the modern Break Room.
Today, the kitchen remains the ultimate meeting point: a place where hierarchies fade away, ideas emerge, and conversations flow naturally.
DID YOU KNOW?
The word “home” comes from focus (Latin for fire). That is why, when we say that someone is the “focus of attention”, we are unknowingly evoking that ancient fire that once brought us all together.
02- FEEL AT HOME
Humanising interiors and the versatility of OFFICE
The modern nomad seeks the comfort of home wherever they go, bringing warmth to unexpected places. And the presence of a kitchen instantly humanises any environment.
Integrating a public-facing kitchen is also a statement of intent. It tells the world: “Here, we have nothing to hide. Come in and make yourself at home.”
FILM FACT
There is a widely shared theory that films featuring Brad Pitt eating are more successful with critics and at the box office. Watching someone eat connects us with their more human side. Okay, we may not be able to bring Brad Pitt to your space, but we do have the solution to create that same sense of closeness in your environment.

OFFICE
To each their own. Our OFFICE is a blank canvas for you to become the artist.
➜ Choose a colour palette that speaks the same language as your brand identity or blends seamlessly with the atmosphere of your space.
➜ Ready for action: equipped with a microwave compartment, integrated sink, and generous storage capacity, all wrapped in a minimalist design.
➜ Freedom on wheels: thanks to its mobility, you don’t have a kitchen fixed in one place; you have it wherever you need it, whenever you need it.
We are manufacturers. If you have an idea that goes beyond our catalogue, tell us about it.
Are you designing a coworking space or lounge area and need to make the most of every square metre? Keep reading, because a space goes beyond four walls.
03 — OFF THE MENU
ALYZÉE: excellence in outdoor kitchens
If humans began cooking beneath the stars, when did we decide that the outdoors was only meant for Sunday barbecues? This is where ALYZÉE comes in. It is, essentially, about returning the kitchen to its original sky.
